C3-PO Park Time

After we visit the park, every child decides how she or he would like to respond. This week we had writers (plays and newsletters), videotographers, montage creators, artists, dancers, and researchers. Good job taking charge of your own learning, Team 184!

Asking Questions at the Park

In reading we at focusing on the comprehension strategy of asking and answering questions. So when we went to the park on Tuesday, we did just that. As we took our hike, we'd stop along the way to write down our questions. Team 184 knows that thinkers and learners are curious!

Four Little Monsters by JP

Four little monsters were at the pond and all the monsters jumped in.

One was drowning and another one came by and took it home.

Then it took a nap and then it woke up and ran around the house.

Then it freaked out and bounced off the walls.

At the end he let them go.

The Bear Attack by XM (The Power of Three)

There I was, wandering in the woods.  It was midnight.  No lights. No brightness.

When I walked down the path I saw a fox.  "I see a fox," I whispered.  I pet him three times and he ran away.

Then I was walking and saw the fox again.  Now he had a glowing eye for three seconds.

I was walking on my path I thought it was the fox, but it was a bear.  "A bear!" I exclaimed.

I ran to my bike, unlocked it, and pedaled away home.

Then I had dinner and never went again.  I had three donuts and blinked three times.

Photo Scavenger Hunt at Ox Bow Park

First Birthday Baking Bash!

A big THANKS to HFC's grandma for coming in to help us bake
 brownies today!
They were delicious!
Happy birthday, HFC!

Look Closely. What do you see?

Using Frank Serafini's book Looking Closely Around The Pond for our inspiration, Team 184 made our own look closely books with our pictures from Ox Bow Park.  Look closely!

Which Shape is the Strongest?

Team 184 is learning about scientists and the scientific method.  Yesterday they investigated which shape was the strongest and would hold the most marbles.  They kept track of their data and shared their findings with each other.  Tomorrow they will talk about why they came to such different conclusions and how scientists conduct fair tests.
